Often, you will find that you want to move an image within its own layer. To do this, place your cursor on the Move Tool in the tool bar and left-click. The word “Move” will appear in the Selection Dialog, showing that the Move Tool is active, as seen here:
Before using the Move Tool, make sure that the layer you want to change is active. At that point, all you have to do is place the cursor on the layer, right-click, and drag your mouse. When you are satisfied with the image’s new location, release the right-click button on your mouse.
Tip: Before returning to painting, be sure to activate the Color Picker in the Tool Bar. If you don’t, you won’t be able to match a color by placing your cursor atop the desired color in your workspace and right-clicking. What’s more, with the Move Tool still active, you risk accidentally moving an image.
Example Of A Moved Image Within A Layer
The sequence below shows the sun on its own layer beneath the ribbon.
In the far left image, the sun is on the wrong side of the canvas. In the middle image, the sun was dragged with the Move Tool behind the loop of the ribbon. In the far right image, a splash of color was added to the bottom left region, on a lower layer.
