Drawing guides give you a visual guide, that goes over your work, and does not alter your work. If you wish to use a drawing guide you must first select the drawing guide tool located in the toolbar at the top of the program.
The shortcut key to show and hide your drawing guide is the "R" key.
After clicking this icon, a drawing guide tool bar will open on the top of the program.
The first drop down menu allows you to select more than one guide at a time. Use 1 for the first guide, 2 for the second guide etc.
Twisted Brush provides a wide variety of drawing guide types which you access using the second drop down menu. For example, if you require a grid of squares choose this:
The easiest way to set the guide is to RIGHT click on the workspace and DRAG the mouse and watch what happens to the guide(s). When they are about the right size and located in about the right place you can make the final precision adjustments using the four values X1, Y1, X2, Y2. When the values are correct click on the APPLY button.
Example, To add a cross hair located exactly at the centre of your drawing
1. select the drop down item "Cross Hair".
2. If you now Right Mouse click on the drawing page you will see the cross hair centred using the default values of 20x20. The cross hair will be in the top left of the screen.
3. Using the Right Mouse Button DRAG the intersection to the centre of the screen then let go the mouse button.
4. Look at the values in X1, Y1 and you will see that they are perhaps not exactly at the centre. If your drawing area is 800x600 then the centre needs to be 400x300. Change the values to the precise values and click APPLY.
Alternatively, skip points 2 and 3, and directly add the values 400x300.
The reason why point 3 is so useful is that you can get the guides nearly correct by using the mouse. Not all guides use the X1, Y1, X2, Y2, values in the same way so seeing them change as you move the mouse helps you to know which numbers to adjust.
Some guides have one colour and some have two colours. You can adjust these using the two colour buttons.
