Using The Brush Effect Panel
The Brush Effects Panel provides access to all the detailed functions and parameters that are used to design a brush. Using this panel you can alter and existing brush, or you can create your own.
This panel is very technical and is designed for advanced users. However, even if you do not feel advanced enough it is still worth making some small experiments to see what happens - you might get inspired to make a great new set of brush effects!
To access the Brush Effects Panel use this toolbar icon:
The Brush Effects Panel will be displayed. You can leave this on the screen whilst drawing. The various parts (numbered) are explained lower down.
Drop down menus 1 and 2 are for the type of brush to be used as the base and the sub-brush type.
The first column (3) is used to turn an effect on or off. Clcik on the green or red light to toggle the state. Green is ON, red is OFF.
The Second column defines the function (4) to be used. There are namy of these and these can be easily found and selected using the associated tree of functions. Click on the function to display the tree list. The tree will be opened up at the current function. Select the function you need and close the tree to finish the task.
The third column (5) relates to the way the effect is developed over time. i.e. how the effect alters with the brush movement, the location on the page etc. Associated with this are two drop down boxes allowing numeric values to be entered. (6, 7)
The last column (8) is used to moved the row up or down. Click on the black square and drag up or down to reposition the row.
